Joy Shall Be Yours In the Morning

Remember in THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS when the field mice gathered around Mole's blazing fire, after surprising Ratty and Mole with some Yuletide carolling? I wish to share some of their spirit with you in verses from one of their carols.

"Villagers all, this frosty tide,
Let your doors swing open wide,
Though wind may follow, and snow beside;
Joy shall be yours in the morning!

Goodman Joseph toiled through the snow--
Saw the star o'er a stable low;
Mary she might not further go--
Welcome thatch, and litter below!
Joy shall be hers in the morning!

And then they heard the angels tell
"Who were the first to cry Nowell?"
Animals all, as it befell,
In the stable where they did dwell!
Joy shall be theirs in the morning!

An A-Z Adventure

Millrace Books asks you to consider a Christmas gift that will make a life-time reader out of the lucky child who receives it. Puffin, a little penguin, has always stood for the best in Children's books, the Puffin Classics. Now the publisher has created something special, calling it 'The A-Z Adventure.' They have redesigned 22 of the top classics with stunning art, excellent print and new introductions by current authors familiar to the children. Discussion guides are added--each for $4.99. Millrace is introducing the $110.00 set at 20% discount and an invitation to be part of a Millrace Children's Book Club. The Book Club's first selection will be "The Wind in the Willows."
